Ladyslipper Farm
2004 foalsWe were so pleased with our 2003 foals that we decided to repeat the exact same crosses for 2004! By going to the mare's page, you can see the foal from last year's cross of the same parents; our foals are here and every one is just what we hoped they would be!
Foaled 5 May 2004.....a large and beautiful liver chestnut colt! If you are looking for an exceptional foal with classic Morgan bloodlines from past greats, a foal with athleticism, intelligence and trot built in, along with sound conformation, great bone and structure, and lots of attitude, click on 'Calvin' and check him out! We expect he will mature to around 15+ hands. Priced at $4500 prior to weaning. This is an extraordinary colt for sport, show, even the amatuer trainer. Superb disposition, loves attention and is a standout with his looks! Don't pass him up! With Beamington, Elm Hill Charter Oak, Forevermore, and Saddleback Supreme in his background, this colt is destined for a great future!
Foal #2, expected mid May 2004
(UVM Tennyson x Lakeland Paradise by Immortal Command)
A lovely, correct filly with a wonderful disposition was our reward for the cross from 2003, and that she came in black like her mom was icing on the cake! 'Kyarra' looks like she will mature well over 15 hands. The 2004 version has arrived and we are elated! 'Clarissa' is a stunning brown filly with 2 hind socks and while we are not sure how big she'll get, she is wonderfully put together........a lovely, feminine head, well set neck and shoulder, smooth body, and great legs and feet. Bob and I have decided this one is a keeper too! Once more, UVM Tennyson has proven that he is a consistant producer of athletic horses in all disciplines, as well as putting 'pretty' into the mix. Lakeland Paradice, 'Dicey', was the Res. Ch. in the NYS Breeders Futurity pleasure saddle as a four year old, and her full sister was the Champion the year before! Dicey's dam is Saddleback Scarlet, who is by Saddleback Supreme, and Dicey's sire, Immortal Command, has been one of the top sires in the breed for many years. UVM Tennyson is of course by Equinox Benn Adam, and out of UVM Heidi who is by UVM Watchman. Clarissa will be elibible for the NYSMHS Breeders Sweepstakes in 2004, and Futurity class in 2008.
(LSF Fortunate Son x Maine Event Ben Echo by Equinox Benn Adam)

With a pedigree that reads like a who's who of some of the best Morgans to set foot in a show ring in the last 30 years, it's no wonder that the filly produced from this same cross in 2003 is something special and we are keeping her! From her tiny tippy ears to her wonderful conformation and airy, athletic trot, 'LSF Benn Faithful' (Faith) is more than we dared hope for. ('Faith' passed away August 15 2004 due to complications from pneumonia.....we grieve for her loss, but treasure the brief time she spent with us. Surely she was too beautiful not to be shared with heaven.) This breeding had been planned for some time, but we had to wait until the right mare came along, and we found her in Maine Event Ben Echo, a mare sired by Equinox Benn Adam and out of a Trophy mare. This foal will be intensely linebred to Equinox Benn Adam, as he is both the maternal grandsire and paternal grandsire of this foal. 'Newt' is all that we could have hoped for from this cross and we are keeping him as a possible replacement for his sire in future years. He is extremely correct, very intelligent and kind, and has the trot we expected---full of animation and balance. And what a surprise awaits us----it looks like he may shed out (finally!) to be black chestnut, one of our favorite colors in the breed! We hope that this boy will see the inside of a show ring in 2006.
