A Photographic Essay:
foals of LSF Fortunate Son
'Ace' has sired four foals for Ladyslipper Farm in the last 2 years, out of 2 of our mares. From breeding Ace's dam to Forevermore, from watching his lengthy recovery from a nearly severed leg, and from watching him mature into a stallion, Bob and I believe that 'Ace', while never able to be a show horse himself due to injury, is destined to have a positive impact on the Morgan breed through his sons and daughters, and we present herewith a collection of photos of his foals from 2003 and 2004 so that you can judge for yourself the quality, beauty, athletic nature and conformational correctness that these foals possess. Although Ace is an outcross, a combination of Brunk and Government lines, we believe he has an unusual abilty to stamp his foals in his likeness, and will improve the qualities of the mares to which he is bred.

It seems only fitting to start at the beginning of the story with the sire himself as a youngster...the first photo shows Ace at about 3 days old; the second and third show Ace at about one to two weeks. Even at this tender age it is possible to see the excellent smoothness this colt possesses, from his beautiful head, elegant neck and well angulated shoulder, back to his wonderful topline and length of hip. His proportions are very nearly perfect as a foal, and his stance shows his natural extreme upheadedness even when relaxed as the second photo shows.
At about 3 weeks, Ace has consented to stand still for a quick conformation pose.
I just like this photo because of Ace's expression and the graceful stance. He's planning his getaway here from posing!

Alicia Fraser, owner and trainer, Scottfield Stables, located in Montrose, PA, immediately saw the presence, correctness, athletic ability, and beauty of this filly----so much so that Alicia bought 'Libby' to be her very first personal Morgan show horse! Thank you Alicia for selecting Libby---you two have a great future ahead of you!!!!
"what might have been".....a piece of our hearts went with this filly....
'Calvin', full brother to the above filly, has all the makings of a first rate show horse, but for a few years he will be a first rate companion for the lovely Olivia Moriarty, because her mother, Pamela, came and bought him for Olivia's Christmas present for 2004! Calvin has learned to lean out over the stall door to give Olivia a hug with his neck----his disposition is the best!

Rhapsody had 2004 off, but she will be rebred to LSF Fortunate Son for a three-peat of this wonderful cross! Look for a striking chestnut colt or filly on these pages in 2006! We just might be convinced to part with a colt!

'Newt' will grow for 2 years and then spend some time with Alicia Fraser at Scottfield Stables. This is a beautiful colt, well constructed, and adhering to our ideals of form following function. He's pretty good looking too!

Newt decided to wear his foal coat until the spring of 2005. We never did find the zipper!

'Newt' is a near twin of his late sister, Faith, who was foaled in 2003. He was a heartily welcomed addition to our Morgan family when he arrived in 2004. He has a delightful temperment, is intelligent, extremely athletic, and shows great promise as an outstanding representative of the Morgan breed, being the 'spit and image' of his wonderful dad.....

'Faith' was lost to inhalation pneumonia one week after a choke incident despite excellent care, vet intervention, and seemingly being on the rebound.

LSF SHE'S COME UNDONE shown here in the fall of 2005, and wearing her winter coat. A very photogenic filly, she's only gotten prettier! Note the superb length of neck, correct topline, smooth body, and length of hip on this girl....and wait til you see her trot in the showring in 2006!

'Newt' is a terrific example of the positive attributes of linebreeding, being a paternal great-grandson of Equinox Benn Adam through his sire, and a maternal grandson of Equinox Benn Adam through his dam

Not much that I would change about this colt
