Nikko as a weanling having fun in the mud!
NIKKO ON 10 JANUARY 2007
STALLIONS
Later.....that same year.....still enjoying the mud!
Nikko is heading off towards the west..and he is halo'd by the last rays of the sun..
Nikko is checking the fenceline making sure all the ladies see him! (He doesn't know he needs a bath.) Although he looks like a Perlino dilute (a bay with 2 dilution genes) in this picture, he really is a creme, which is a chestnut based horse with two dilution genes that are expressed. The above is a picture from a video.
.

Nikko's dad is a single dilute (palomino, chestnut based horse with one dilution gene expressed) and the result of a double dilute (cremello, or creme) who was bred to a palomino mare. The above picture was taken from a video still. Note the push he exhibits off his hindquarters!
The double dilute lines in the Morgan breed go back many decades, and palominos, cremes, and perlinos are not a new phenomonon but are recently being recognized both in and out of the show ring, along with other colorful Morgans.
